VIRGIN TRAINS TICKETING TREVITHICK PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

INTRODUCTION

Hello there! These are the terms and conditions that apply if you participate in our Trevithick promotion to win free train travel in the form of Virgin Points (the “Promotion” for short). 

  1. Acceptance of these terms: If you enter this Promotion, we’ll take that as a thumbs up to these terms and conditions and the entry instructions, so please make sure you read the terms carefully. If something doesn't sit right with you, please sit this one out. 

  2. Who can enter?: This Promotion is open to anyone with the surname Trevithick living in the UK and aged 18 or over when they enter the Promotion.  We will need to see a copy of your passport or driving licence in order to verify that you are a Trevithick ! 

  3. Entry restrictions: We want to keep things fair, so employees of Virgin Red Limited, Virgin Management Limited, Virgin Enterprises Limited, and anyone else professionally connected with this Promotion, along with their immediate families, unfortunately, can’t enter. 

  4. When can I enter?: The Promotion closes once we have been contacted through the specified email by 25 Trevithicks who meet the entry requirements and have provided sufficient proof of their identity  or at 11.59pm on 6 March 2024, whichever is later (the “Promotion Period” for short). Any entries outside the Promotion Period won't make the cut. 

HOW TO ENTER THE PROMOTION 

  1. For a chance to win, email a picture of your passport or driving licence clearly showing your surname as Trevithick to trevithick@virgin.com.   

  2. You’ll have one shot to win so make it count. And don’t worry – no purchase is necessary.  

PRIZES AND WINNERS  

Now for the exciting bit – the Prize. Twenty five (25) lucky winners will bag themselves 250,000 Virgin Points (the “Prize”).  That is enough to use towards £1,250 worth of train tickets with Virgin Trains Ticketing. 

  1. The winners will be the first twenty five Trevithicks to email a picture of their passport or driving licence clearly showing their surname as Trevithick to the email address above.   

  2. The winners will be notified via email that they have won within fourteen (14) days after the end of the Promotion Period. 

  3. The winners will get a promotional code with instructions to allow them to credit their Virgin Points prize to their Virgin Red account. In order to claim their points, the winners will need to be or become a Virgin Red member and accept the Programme Terms and Conditions.  In order to use the points for train tickets the winners will also need to become members of Virgin Trains Ticketing and accept those terms and conditions.  The name and details of the Virgin Red account and the Virgin Trains Ticketing account benefitting from the Virgin Points must correspond with the name and details on the submitted photo ID.  Make sure to use the code before the stated expiry date, otherwise the code will expire and the Virgin Points will be lost. Once the code has been redeemed, Virgin Points never expire.  

  4. Life happens. If we can't reach a winner within five (5) working days, if the winner doesn’t accept their Prize, the winner isn’t eligible to win or we can’t verify their eligibility, that winner will forfeit their Prize and we might award the Prize to another winner, selected in the same way we’ve set out above.  

  5. Bear in mind: any extra costs and expenses that are not included in the Prizes are your responsibility, including any additional costs, insurance and taxes. If you’d like to spend your Virgin Points on a reward flight, be aware that taxes, fees and carrier-imposed surcharges apply and vary in accordance with cabin, departure airport, destination and date(s) of travel. Reward fights are subject to availability and you’ll need to sign up for a free Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account to book. 

WHAT CONDITIONS DO I NEED TO BE AWARE OF? 

  1. We have the ultimate say in picking the winners, and our decision is final. We won’t enter into any correspondence, except with the winners. And if you don’t receive your notification that you’ve won for any technical reason affecting your email or otherwise, that’s not on us but we hope you have better luck next time.  

  2. There are no cash alternatives available. The Prizes are as described, and that's what you get. No passing them on or reselling them for cash. Unless we agree otherwise, the Prizes will only be awarded to the winners.  

  3. If you’re a winner, we want to shout about it! We might publish (or share if we get a request to membersupport@virgin.com) information to confirm that we awarded the Prizes – for example, the name and county of residence of the winner. If you want to keep things private, simply drop us a line at data.protection@virgin.com. But bear in mind that we still need to provide these details and the winning entries to the Advertising Standards Authority or an equivalent authority if they ask. 

  4. If you’re a lucky winner, you might also get a call or an email from us to join in on some promotional activities to celebrate your win – think website features and social media posts. 

  5. We want to keep things fair and square, so no entries from agents, third parties, syndicated entries or any other funny business please. This includes things like entries using computer macro, script or automated devices, and bulk entries.  

  6. We reserve the right to check who's playing by the rules, including by verifying their eligibility to enter, and to disqualify anyone who’s abusing or tampering with the Promotion, entering using fraudulent means (including multiple social media accounts) or breaking these terms and conditions.   

A FEW FINAL POINTS 

  1. We can't predict everything, and we're not responsible for any loss or damage that we couldn’t have foreseen or that results from things outside our control – including entries that aren’t registered or are delayed for any technical reason. That said, nothing in these terms is intended to remove or limit our responsibility for fraud or death or personal injury caused by our negligence. These terms also don’t affect any of your legal rights as a consumer.  

  2. The Promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any social media platform where it is promoted and those social media platforms don’t have any responsibility in connection with the Promotion.  

  3. Sometimes things change, and we reserve the right to extend, withdraw, tweak or suspend the Promotion or these terms, including changing the Prizes, if things happen that are outside our control. 

  4. Your data is safe with us. All personal data that is submitted in connection with the Promotion will be used by use and our agents to run the Promotion, award the Prizes, check eligibility, and make sure everything's above board. All data will be used in line with current UK data protection laws and our Privacy Policy

  5. English law applies to the Promotion, these terms and any disputes that might happen in connection with them. 

  6. We, Virgin Red Limited trading as Virgin Trains Ticketing, are the Promoter of this Promotion. We’re registered in England under company number 11490861 and have our offices at 66 Porchester Road, London W2 6ET. Our VAT number is (GB) 435216184.
